| I need one for eggs, because I just can't cook them well in anything else. What's your favorite? |
|
I just go to Ross or TJ Maxx, etc. and get an inexpensive, but heavy one, and replace it when it starts to get worn. You can usually find good brands there (cuisinart, etc.)

| Kirklands, from Costco. Hands down. They're awesome! |
| butter and an iron skillet |

i'll second the PP and recommend you don't use nonstick - the coating is hazardous to your health (basically heating plastic at high temps all the time). pet bird owners have known for decades, as the fumes in the house kill the birds - no joke. fyi i posted on the use and care of cast iron skillets on my food/family site...
http://www.chinesegrandma.com/2010/09/cast-iron-skillets-old-school-nonstick/ i know nonstick pans are convenient, but what kills birds can't be good for us or our kids. good luck! |

Yes, skip the nonstick. The coating also get ripped up after a while, so you start eating the plastic too. Even the dancy All-clad ones. No good for your health.

| Pp here. 'fancy' not 'dancy', of course. Hate typing on my iphone... |
| how about anodized aluminum? i thought that was supposed to be safe? |
| Another poster who agrees with the advice to skip the non-stick pans. Try cast iron. |
| OP here. I am aware of the risks involved in using non-stick. But they are dangerous at extremely high temperatures, which I don't use to cook eggs. I can't use cast iron on a flat top stove, either. So non-stick it is, which is why I was looking for brand recommendations in the first place. |
| Did you know you are not supposed to use soap to clean a cast iron pan? I'll pass. I don't have birds anyway. |

I have a Cuisinart Green Gourmet nonstick pan which works great and doesn't contain teflon.
I take really good care of it -- never in the dishwasher, etc. And things slide out of it really easily. I've had it for almost a year and use it almost daily and it's still great. |
