With all the hate and politics surrounding colleges in the U.S., DC is very interested in Canada, UK and other schools. Would like to study most likely business/finance or engineering. 4.0 UW and practice ACT scores of 34/35. Any recommendations? |
oh my goodness. |
Which AP scores? |
Could you provide a bit more information to help us help you. Would your child prefer a school in the UK that would expel them for using the wrong pronoun, or one that would expel them for a social media post criticizing Hamas? Would you prefer a Canadian school that would expel you for reporting a software flaw, or one that would require you to shower with someone of the opposite gender? |
Imagine thinking that sending your kid to college in the UK is a safer place for them than the US. |
I would suggest Middle East and Africa. They have never been better and on the up trend. |
In the UK, besides Oxbridge for Stem, and depending on STEM major:
Imperial College, U of Bristol, Edinburgh and UCL are the top UK Stem unis. |
Most UK top (not all) will require at least 3 AP tests at 5. Some will ask for 5 at 5’s, others will do will a couple of 4’s and others like StA and Edinburgh and Bristol are more in tune with the different US systems and will look at your kid’s application more holistic. For Engineering: Imperial, Bristol and Edinburgh For Business (in UK it could be called Management, Econ Mgmt, Finance, Financial Econ, etc): Oxford, St Andrews, Warwick, LSE, UCL You can look at the UK’s main rankings here. They rank by subject, undergrad teaching only, not about PhD Research: https://www.thecompleteuniversityguide.co.uk/league-tables/rankings/business-and-management-studies |
This is roughly correct. I would add U StAndrews for undergrad degrees in Physics or CS or math or similar. |
Sure, but Humanities is where StA shines.
It Is easier for Americans to get in Bristol and Edinburgh for some of their STEM courses than UCL, Imperial and yet, these two unis (Edi and Bristol) have amazing STEM programs. |
Ecole Polytechnique in Paris. |
Mcgill |
Can anyone elaborate? Thanks |
Look into Waterloo in Canada for engineering. Our kid really liked the school in general, but wanted more of a humanities focus while Waterloo is better known for STEM. They are also a strong co-op school, if that is of interest. |
