I think Scott Galloway's advice is good, essentially it's forget about your "passion", but find something you're good at and become a master of it.

Make as much money as possible. No one ever told me this. 😅

That they don’t need a career plan now. It’s OK not to know what you want to do. It’s OK not to ever really have a “career path” and instead to follow the opportunities that emerge. That you don’t need to love or be passionate about your job but that working with good people is invaluable. That it’s much better to feel good about the work you’re doing and make less money than to feel shitty but make a lot of money.

Get a degree that lands you a job that allows you to support yourself in the lifestyle you want.

AI is going to change the landscape in ways we don't fully understand yet. So choose fields that hone your skills of logical thinking and analysis, ones that translate to many career options.

+1. And, you need a *real* job. You're not going to become a philosopher. That's not going to pay for your kids' uggs.

I am telling my kids to follow their passions with a goal in mind.

My passion was (is) social work - no, I don't make DCUM money, but I still make 150k and after 25y, still love my work.

+ 1. I tell my kids to get a job/career that you like, but doesn’t have to be your life. Work your way live, not life to work.

Get the highest grades possible - your college GPA will open or close doors. Once closed those’d opportunities will never be available again.

+1. I hate "follow your passion" as career advice. Follow your interests, follow your skills, follow mentors that you relate to. But your "passion?" Few 18 year olds can even tell you what that is.

Get a job, any job. I will turn their low wage (I need $20 day from them) into a million in no time.
I think they are going for cyber security for now though.

Don’t listen to everybody else. Do what you like and are good at
