Braddock District Supervisor

Anonymous
Now that Walkinshaw has moved on to Congressman for the 11th District, his Fairfax County Board of Supervisors seat is open. Does anyone have any leanings on who should replace him? So far I see Rachna Sizemore and Ilryong Moon (both currently on FCPS School Board) have launched campaigns. Any others? What do we know about them?

Ken Balbuena is my neighbor. He's running as republican who is pro-immigration and social services at the local level and has no desire to get involved in culture wars. Fiscal responsibility is his number one priority. He's extremely moderate and has been super active in our community: https://www.kenforbraddock.com/

Sorry but anyone running as a Republican is a no go for many these days, lots of trust issues that they will run saying they will stay out of the culture wars but then do a 180 later.

Sorry but Moon is old, tired, and unintelligible these days, while Sizemore-Heizer is a narcissist and also one of the key proponents of a county-wide school boundary study that has been bungled from its inception. Hers is not the type of incompetence that deserves a promotion.,

I am honestly surprised that the board didn't just appoint someone to the position until the next election.

I’d love to see a moderate move forward, whether they are a democrat or a republican. Thanks for sharing his info.

Through 2027? I don’t think they have the power to do that.

I'm certainly not voting for a Republican for Braddock Road Supervisor

A non MAGA Republican might be a good addition to the board but I am not sure if there are any non MAGA republicans left. I heard the previous Braddock supervisor, Jon Cook (R), endorsed Balbuena. Cook was well regarded.

It’s not a road supervisor! It’s a district!

At this point, any Republican would be better than a pro-tax increases, pro-more low income housing everywhere, pro-more panhandlers at street intersections, Democrat.

Nope. Then they should run as an independent. The republican title is tainted around here, for good reason. Anyone willing to attach that label to themselves is not palatable to many.

And, you think the School Board members are not culture warriors?

Go ahead, vote independent. Throw your vote away.

Interesting because the local Democratic power brokers are largely lining up behind Sizemore Heizer because they think Moon is too moderate. Both parties are polarized.

I’d give Balbuena a shot because Rachna is an awful person. She only cares about her own family and neighborhood issues. She will tell you otherwise but she is lying to your face. And she has been terrible on the School Board - the current mess of a county-wide boundary review is largely a result of Rachna’s tenure on the Governance Committee.
