May be heading to needing to enroll my teen in online school for this year. School doesn't seem to have any advice or experience here.
Does anyone have any guidance on what the best option is here? Due to medical reasons, I think they can may be able to do a late start at Virtual VA. But I will do whatever is the best option, and also easiest to transfer back in next school year if possible. Thanks. We are currently in FCPS |
Best is going to depend on your child's needs. Does he want asynchronous or synchronous? How rigorous? The program I've consistently heard the best about is Stanford online HS, but it's best suited for 2e students. |
Check out Christa McAuliffe Academy. My child
is getting a good high school education and enjoys interacting online with the teachers and students. |
I’m new poster (sorry op don’t mean to crash your topic). Can anyone speak to grades 6-8? Your Stanford suggestion looks good for my now 5th grader, and he is 2e. I am considering options for MS so he can skip what I know will be bullying years, and go confidently into a stem high school near us. (Or traditional hs, or continue with online) |
I'm loving Acellus for our kids. We're in the accredited program. Depending on your county, it's either a online private school or homeschool.
Pros: straight forward especially the math. AP classes but we supplemented with Princeton Review for exams. Easy to track. Very flexible. Cons: writing is graded by AI. We supplement for writing. |
Any good options for live online school? I see a few Catholic ones. |
