Diction Coach

Anonymous
Anyone hire a diction coach or take a diction class? My google searches show they are geared towards actors, so maybe an acting/improv type class will help. Any suggestions appreciated for a child in early 20s. I find my child hard to listen to. It's like a valley girl with voice rising up and falling. I can only describe it as too much tongue. It's like nails on a chalkboard.

Does she want to change this or would this be something you are trying to force?

Hiring a coach for this will certainly strengthen your relationship with her. 🙄

Assuming she, herself, asked you to help with it…

I’ve taken some lessons on accent reduction; the woman who taught them mostly did dialect coaching for actors otherwise. Doesn’t matter - she is a speech therapist who understands why the sounds come out the way they do and how to change that.
