Any sports good for low muscle kid

Anonymous
My son has low muscle tone. He realizes that he struggles in many sports. His lower body (legs) are weak, and he lacks endurance and easily get tired. It is fine that he keeps doing recreational sports. Are there any sports that low muscle kid can do better? He did a few years of OT when he was young, not that really helpful.

Swimming.
But also let him do what he enjoys at the rec level too.

Swimming requires exceptional endurance, so I wouldn’t recommend it. It’s basically all conditioning.

What about archery? Or field events like javolin or shot put? Not sure how old your child is.

Tennis is a good sport that your son could do well in. It's more about mechanics than strength and with good form and strokes he could do well in tennis.

Honestly just persevering at a sport is as good for low tone as OT. Yes, low tone kids have to work harder to get those muscles to twitch, but the only way to overcome that is to make the muscles stronger.

Agree my low tone kid worked hard at swim and became an average swimmer on his year round team. He got a lot out of it and then switched to rock climbing.

My very low tone kid enjoyed sports. He played baseball and soccer. He was just average at soccer but he did pretty well at baseball. He didn’t play travel but he was eventually able to play at the select level (between rec and travel).

My low tone son got into tae kwon do and it made a huge difference. Also helped with his balance.
