My brother called me last night and said he is taking my mom to check out care facilities. She is in her 90s with no health issues or cognitive decline. She feels like she needs to make the move before it becomes an emergency.
I am scrambling to come up with a list of questions for the facility. Please help me determine if this is a decent place. Everyone where she lives has a lot of nice things to say about it and she knows people there. |

Cost is a big factor. What is included and what is extra.
I’d want to know about activities that are offered. Does she drive and want to keep a car? If so what are the arrangements for that. Do they offer ride services (groceries, doctors, etc) and field trips. Are any meal options available and cost. Same with hair. Also if kosher is important to you, ask about that. Are cleaning services offered or do you have to make private arrangements. Cost if offered. How are emergencies and check ins handled and what is the cost. Like if she falls. And are there call buttons in the residences. How is it staffed. Of course check the facilities - if a pool or pickleball or whatever is important, make sure it’s available. |
