| Someone smarter than me, please (I know, not saying much). Any truth to the rumor that GA is going to align itself with NWSL in some capacity? Heard some talk, but nothing concrete/in writing. Thanks in advance, Soccer Mom |
| There have been rumors about this for almost a year. |
More than a year. |
| Wont be surprised if this happens next year. |
| 🤣🤣🤣 |
| Big announcement coming Sept 15 |
Lights out for the ecnl hats! |
| Fever dream. |
Seems like NWSL as already started affiliating itself with one of the leagues. https://girlssoccernetwork.com/5-nwsl-teams-with-youth-academies/ Just saying…GA truthers just don’t seem to recognize the truth even when it is right on in front of them. |
|
5 NWSL clubs have academies already.
-3 Are in ECNL -1 Is in GA -1 Is not in either Things could change, but no solid announcements have been made. Surprised the Spirit, with Kang’s backing, have not started a program yet. |
| They have announced that, I think, 5 new clubs, including the Spirit will start an Academy in 2026. They made it sound like it will be a Spirit Academy team and not just affiliating with an existing club. But the details of the announcement were sparse, so I don’t know. |
It’s a reserve team. Not an academy team. |
| Fair enough, but if they have a reserve team why do they need to align with a league or local team. My point was, they seem to not be aligning with a team or league, but rather creating their own in-house system, whether it is called reserve or academy. |
It will be a reserve team. Not a full-blown academy system or club. It will be one team at a level underneath their first team. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, GA visors. |
| It’s GA hoodies. And yes that is the rumor NWSL reserve teams. This will provide an opportunity for a handful of girls to be in this environment but will probably still be comprised of physically mature and hardened college girls. They are not partnering with any youth league lol! |
