Beautiful old house in Hagerstown

Anonymous
This came up on my FB feed. The woodwork is a bit too dark for me and needs work but what lovely bones and only $300K.

That's beautiful. I don't know much about Hagarstown real estate, but 300k seems remarkably low? The house needs work, but it looks livable the way it is.

I like it overall. Would change the wallpaper, but that's easy enough.

I mean, even if there was, it would require gutting including full pipe line replacement so what difference does it make?

The "flex room" is the original kitchen. It probably had standalone stove/fridges that were removed for the sale. Layout is a bit weird, these houses typically had direct access from kitchen to front of house via pantries and back halls so the servant(s) didn't have to go through multiple rooms to reach the front door.

I don't particularly care for it. And Hagerstown isn't the best place to live either.

No driveway and no kitchen. Where do you park? Where do your guests park? No backyard for kids to play. Schools aren't too far away. I don't like 100 year old plumbing and electrical. Could I make it a Bed and Breakfast. Maybe.

Looks like water damage.

Hint: look to the right of the house. See that paved lane going to the rear? That’s a driveway.

NP. I'm guessing the kitchen is hideous and dated, so the agent thought photos would be a turnoff. I mean, unless the owners were ordering out every night. So add $50k for a kitchen reno to that price.
