How do you pronounce Anacostia

I'm DC born and raised, and just now wondering have I been saying Anacostia wrong thois whole time?
I say it with 5 syllables, sort of like ann-uh-KOSS-tee-uh but should it be more like 4 syllables an-na-KA-sha?

I've never heard it pronounced except as five syllables.

And since you're DC born and raised and don't know how to pronounce Anacostia you probably need to be reminded that Anacostia is a specific neighborhood, not a catchall term for anywhere east of the river.

Also not all of Southeast is east of the river, and not everything east of the river is in Southeast.

I've lived in Anacostia for 30 years, and I've only heard it pronounced with five syllables.
