Ok so up until I had kids mid 30s, I had a great figure. Hourglass, chesty but looked great in button down shirts, anything belted, runners legs so very toned. Short but high waisted.
Now in my upper 50s , I’m just strange looking. Legs are still toned though I’m not sure why. Years of running and high heels killed my feet so sadly I can’t run anymore. My chest, back and deltoid area is so much larger! I still have technically an hour glass figure by measurement but if I wear anything belted it looks ridiculous like my waist is under my boobs. I like weight lifting but this makes my upper body look even bigger. If I had to describe my physique now it would be a chicken with a waist and toned legs. If my upper body was smaller it would be fine. What do I do? Embrace my poultry physique and wear feathers? Will my chest shrink with age so I wait it out? Lose weight and go for the skinny old look? I’m normal BMI now. Different type of exercise? |
Are you shorter too? This could account for your belt issue. Have you tried a bra resizing? This could bring the girls back in alignment. |
I had that same thought as PP - you need new bras. Maybe a different cut in clothes. But definitely start with the bra. |
You might need a breast lift. |
Are you saying your breasts have that big matronly look (sorry)? Ok I’ve always had breasts that look that way, sadly for me, but it can be camouflaged with the right clothes and bra. |
Somewhat, maybe a combination of that plus shoulders/back that look like a swimmers just really bulky, it’s strange. |
Welcome to getting old. |
OP, is the mass you have added to your upper body muscle or fat? If muscle, you can alter your workouts to go more towards lighter weights with higher reps. If your body tends to put fat on your upper body, the only way to get rid of it is to lower your overall body fat % by reducing calories. None of us can control where our bodies store fat, and unfortunately absent liposuction, there is no way to spot reduce. |
Cut back on weight lifting and do mat pilates and resistance training like push-ups etc. Pare with cardio. |
How big are your breasts? I was always chesty but once I hit perimenopause they started to grow. And grow. And grow.
When I finally reached menopause the real weight gain kicked in and my waist completely disappeared between the belly and the boobs. I finally got a breast reduction and a tummy tuck and currently on Ozempic. Weight came off but the boobs came back. Considering a 2nd breast reduction but I really don’t want to go back under the knife. |
Who did your tummy tuck and are you happy with that part? |
God is just having jokes with women. I have had small breast my whole life, “full As” lol, then after kids and four years of breastfeeding in totally they turned into totally flat saggy pancakes, I need a B bra but only because of the extra skin. Some older friends told me they might fill out as perimenopause marches on but that has definitely not happened. I’m super self conscious about them. I’m reading the above and feel for you, with the completely opposite problem. Wish we could average our issues out and live out menopause in (breast-related) peace!! |
My formerly hourglass figure has disappeared and my chest has gotten huge. From 32D to 32G with no weight change. I hate it so much - the look on my short waisted body - and how uncomfortable it is. I hoped the new bra fitting would help but it’s still awful. I wish I could get a breast reduction and lift but I am too scared to do elective surgery (have had enough other surgeries). |
I got a tummy tuck with lipo 360 and a breast lift. Body looks much better now.! |
Who did yours? |
