| Anyone know why EDP gives out so many points? It completely inflates the rankings of a team. Do they do this to draw clubs to EDP? Is there any governance around how points are allocated to leagues, tourneys, etc? |
Are you talking about gotsoccer points? |
|
By "rankings" do you mean got soccer points?
News flash: GS points are in no way indicative of the quality of a team and/or the level they play at. |
| Understood but that doesn’t answer my question. |
It does answer the root of your question that gotsoccer points are completely meaningless. |
| There are some "top" GS teams that are barely 500 in the country based on actual results. |
It may seem meaningless but there is a correlation with tournament flights to some degree. Nevertheless, I am curious if anyone actually knows. Not looking for another discussion about the rankings app. It is what it is and tournaments use it to some degree so what’s up with the points allocation. |
Most tournaments don't use it! That's what we're trying to tell you. If you care this much, email someone from EDP or GS. No one here will give you a straight answer (unless they are from EDP or GS). |
| The way Got Soccer assigns points to events is based on their own rankings. The more teams with high GS points in the event, the more it is worth. It's basically a self fulfilling loop because the EDP teams have a lot of points because they are the largest league that uses Got Soccer for all their games. Teams that play in leagues that don't use Got Soccer (ECNL, RL, etc) have fewer chances to earn points. |
