Hillary's mom. The only way Hillary was born in Spain is if her mom flew to Spain (where no family property was, had absolute no connection to) while she was 9 months pregnant and studying for finals at med school. Hillary was NOT BORN IN SPAIN. And the reason we are all fascinated by this is the same reason people were fascinated with the Rachel Dozeal case. If Rachel Dozeal was married to one of the most famous people on the planet. That is literally what we are dealing with here. I don't even think she is fully bilingual. Grab somebody who's 1st language is Spanish (my mom in this case, she was born and raised in Costa Rica. Married my dad in Costa Rica, then moved to Georgia where we were all born). I played for my mom this clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2I_kujj45lc&t=83s and she said her conversational Spanish was terrible and you can tell she is nervous, DEFINITELY not her first language. And DEFINITELY not an accent from Spain. So anyway, this would make myself and my 3 sisters half Spanish. We would NEVER ever pretend to be any sort of hispanic. The idea that we would do that is SO crazy! And we all DID go spend our summers (unfortunately) in Costa Rica with our grandparents, and all our relatives still live there. I'm trying to imagine how funny it would be if one of my sisters suddenly decided to get an accent, dye her hair, and started acting latina. AND WE ARE HALF COSTA RICAN. Of course we are fascinated by this. And naming our kids hispanic names, oh my god, never. My middle name is my grandma's name, which is spanish. But NONE OF US would ever name our kids spanish names. That would be insane. Even my mom would find that strange. That is the part that bothers me, her kids are going to be so damn confused when they find out. It really pisses me off that somebody would steal a culture in order to become famous. |

That raises a good point. Notice none of her kids are named after any of her "relatives." She always makes a point on her instagram about the names of her kids. I don't see her going "we named him Romeo Alejandro or Eduardo something something after my uncle in Spain" or whatever.
I would not be surprised if half her instagram followers are bought. I read a rumor about that from somebody that knew her, but it's not online anymore. I guess CAA is scrubbing all that stuff. |
| At the very least I hope she lives in constant fear that ONE DAY she will be exposed. Like someone who's been pretending to have a bachelor's or master's degree for 20 years and then HR randomly runs a background check or new ownership or new promotion -- and it's discovered no, the person actually dropped out short of graduating and has been lying for 20 years, and they're fired on the spot. |
This level of lying is sociopathic. She has no fear of being caught. |
If she checked the "hispanic" box on her NYU application that is fraud. If her kids do it, it is fraud. It's called a "boost up." Look at University of Michigan. |
| Hey, I am the PP. My sisters and I are all half Costa Rican on my mom's side. Everybody on my mom's side lives in Costa Rica. But we were born and raised in the USA. We would never ever ever think to check "hispanic" on a box EVER. Not on a job application, a college application, or even at the doctor's office. Much less try to build a career around it. With a Spanish cookbook?!! WTF. That's why this shit is so crazy and offensive to me. |
Not for this thread, but my half-Mexican DH (who is a dual US/Mexican citizen by birth, just like you are probably CR dual citizen by birth) strongly identifies as Hispanic. You might not identify as Hispanic, but that doesn't mean others in a similar situation would feel the same. But we are in agreement about Hilaria Baldwin. |
NP here. I actually find it weird how little PP appears to identify with half her heritage. Like, OK, that’s you’re decision, but most people in your position do consider themselves Hispanic and are certainly entitled to check any box along those lines. |
| LOL bring me up to speed on this thread. |
| How do I create a subreddit about this? I just downloaded the Reddit app and created an account. I’m new to this! But I feel like a Reddit thread may get more exposure than this one? |
Do does Hilaria! She has Spanish roots and can claim it. |
Her Spanish is not terrible at all. Signed, native Spanish speaker |
No. |

I can't explain it. We just wouldn't. We were born and raised in Georgia, and we just were distanced from my mom's side of the family in Costa Rica. We do not have dual citizenship, my sisters and I were all born in the US. My mom wanted out of CR, that's why she married my very american dad at 18. She tried to enrich us with her culture when we got to high school by forcing us to spend summers down there but it was complicated. It all came down to the fact that deep down, she didn't want to be there either. Back in the 80's-90's, being from central america and getting married to an american to get your green card was NOT something you wanted people to know. Her family was definitely not poverty stricken, but it was Costa Rica. It wasn't something she was proud of, and we picked up on that when we were little, you would be surprised how much kids pick up.
