Honestly, what would happen to elite college admissions without lacrosse? This bizarre activity- as egregious an example of Native American cultural appropriation as you'll find anywhere- appears to have become the sole means by which good looking, athletic young white men are admitted to selective colleges these days. 60 years ago, America's top colleges and universities were filled with WASPs....now it seems only the lacrosse teams are. Why not complete the ongoing transformation of America's "elite" institutions of higher education by killing off lacrosse altogether? Then top colleges will just be a desert of high SAT aspies, STEM nerds, billionaire kids, FGLI strivers, and foreign students as far as the eye can see. That's what the admissions offers really want, after all.

Terrible post. I am from a low income area with 100% minority kids and lacrosse has been great for us. Literally a game changer. Maybe they don't go to SLACs, but lots of D3 college scholarships for kids who really need them.

But stay in your world and pretend you're the one who doesn't get enough privilege.

Not just lacrosse many other sports have similar demographics: Swimming, field hockey, skiing, crew, golf, etc…. Should just get rid of all sports.

Amazing how a tiny school like Williams fills up a huge percentage of the male spots in their class with football, hockey and lax. Roughly 1000 men at Williams and probably 125 (or more) from those three sports. Throw in baseball (slightly more diverse but also not known for being full of intellects, though I'm sure there are some who are very bright) and you are well over 15% of the men in the school. And I guarantee you that not one of these kids will play these sports at any competitive level for a day after they graduate.

Totally agree - Williams was just cited as the example. Might be even worse at some of the others which are slightly smaller. It is impossible to get into these schools as a non-legacy, non-athlete, non-first gen, white person (particularly male) from a major metro area. It is just a numbers game. I know they exist, but they are rare.

Div. 3 does not give scholarships. So these kids you are referring to “who really need them” will get financial aid or merit aid without lacrosse. What you think is a “game changer” is you justifying affirmative action for whites.
