Basketball for ASD kid

Anonymous
Hi,
We’re looking for basketball coach/camp for our 13-year old, who has been learning the game for the last two years.

Any suggestions? DC needs to learn how to be a team player. We are not necessarily looking for adaptive training but some place that is patient.

Check with your local special Olympics.

I would try now, before the season is in full swing, try to find a college basketball player who is interested in “tutoring”?
Obvs not at a D1 school where they’re getting $$$ and have an insanely intense schedule. If you’re in DC, a Catholic U player maybe… the team runs a camp every summer and many of them work at it, so have experience with kids.
Not sure where to start but try the coach or athletic director who I assume are Google-able?

Needing to learn to be a team player can mean so many things. Is it that he isn’t skilled at positioning compared to others or is it that he immediately melts down if he isn’t passed the ball? One of those needs a coach and one needs a therapist.
