Masters School

Anonymous
We are looking to relocate to NYC suburbs from the DC area next year and looking at private schools for our current 4th grader. I’ve heard about Masters School, and like the idea of potential boarding in upper grades. Does anyone have experience with the school? It seems pretty small and maybe too far outside the city for people on here.

Thanks.

People do reverse commute but it is a long trip from Manhattan.

Why are you set on private? Lots of great public districts in Westchester, etc.

-there are kids from the city who attend Masters and a bus as well
Pros--culture of kindness, not a pressure cooker like other privates, can really establish relationships with teachers, beautiful campus
Cons--past few years has completely transformed culturally, now it is a beacon for kids who have been bullied out of public schools, have some form of learning disability, gender identity issues, or just generally quirky. I think the tolerance and acceptance of differences is great but the issue now is that if your child is mainstream it is tougher to fit in socially here.
