Continuing HBR

Our kid loved Calleva HBR. They have saddle club on Mondays & Wednesdays on the farm but no bus. If it wasn't so far away or if it was the weekends, we'd support signing up. Any other options before next summer?

Where are you located and how far are you willing to drive?

Glen Echo, Bethesda. Could do up to an hour on the weekends, but weekdays homework, prefer 30 min (knowing traffic would make longer)
Really love how Calleva does the program so considering doing it for a season but makes for a nearly 4 hour activity on a weekday.

Meadowbrook Stables is probably the closest, but unless your child is beyond the beginner levels, the school year lesson program is likely to be full (can’t hurt to get on their waitlist though or email the office to inquire). It is a great lesson program but a commitment (you have to commit to the whole school year program).

For weekends and less of a commitment, there are lots of barns in Pooleseville. Wrenacyn and Willow Mist are two to check out, but there are probably others.

Rock Creek Stables used to have a lesson program — not sure if they still do and I have no direct experience with the stables. Wheaton Stables has a lesson program but I don’t know enough about it to vouch for the it.

Unfortunately, many of the “down county” barns have closed so you’re likely traveling to Poolesville, Olney, Laurel, or Virginia
