Here's a fun one for the soccer board

NJ mom (because of course) posts video of her DD being fouled, and the "victim" team is banned from the league.

https://www.nj.com/sports/2025/08/nj-soccer-mom-demanded-justice-for-daughter-after-violent-foul-her-team-got-banned-instead.html?gift=98bc30a6-bd8e-48b6-8a94-c2fd84c942c3

Several years ago, one of my DD's (high-level, if that matters, though I don't think it does) teammates got a red and suspension for pulling someone's hair during a match.

Girls were upset, but I had no problem with the consequence.

That’s wild. Also, having grown up in NJ— those aren’t even competitive teams! What the heck is happening that kids are riled up that they’re doing shit like this?

I wldnt excuse it if it was PDA or something, but I’d understand more the pressure kids feel when they’re on a competitive travel team/thinking college soccer etc.

OP and to be clear, I think the mom (and other team parents) are the issue here.

Foul was bad, league and coaches seem to have done the correct thing.

I don’t know the other half of the story but it appears to be utter BS from the half I have seen. I remember originally seeing the clips and thinking WTF?!?

I have no clue how it was not red. I have no clue how anyone would stay in the league IF the girls were banned just because a defensive mom blew up on social media about a justified red. This is not WWE.

Please expand on this as I would like to understand the other half of the story.

Wow. That was a tough read. The whole situation sucks. But the mom who posted the video and then participated in the cyberbullying is the person who escalated a situation way beyond what it needed to go. I would be protective of my kid too but I never would have taken it to social media.

People watch videos online and totally forget that refs are making calls in the moment. It was a bad call. It was a terrible foul. It sounds like the league did the right thing reeducating the ref and suspending the player. Parents really need to use better judgement with social media. Ugh!

Its pathetic for adults to use social media as a platform to shame minors like this. It tells you way more about the adults than the kid in the video. If she had a problem she should have contacted the organization and showed them the video privately.

This one is interesting because her child was assaulted. She should have contacted the police, but the league should have given the girl that did this a much harsher punishment.

I think getting the police involved is a stretch in this case. If punches were thrown then I'd consider it.

Thats a messed up foul which obviously deserved a red card but to call the police would be genuinely insane.

Normalizing assault for a child's game is insane.

I see aggressive stuff like this several times every season. Usually it results in red cards going to players and subsequently coaches for further inflaming the situation. But most of the time it would be a complete waste of time calling the police because kids lose their cool during a soccer game and get aggressive. Its part of the game and ive seen worse when my son was u15 with actual punches thrown (although instigated by name calling), and nobody felt the need to involve the police.

I take it you are fairly new to this or have a younger kid in travel soccer?

Nope - the same offender has a history of this behavior as well.
