Would you keep down payment in savings or invest it?

Anonymous
We sold our home due to divorce and each got $150k after selling. I want to buy another house on 2 years. Would you invest this down payment or.would you keep in a high yield savings account? I already made the decision to buy so don't suggest me not to buy. I am just asking whether to save this amount or invest it and then cash in the investment when it's time to buy.

Savings if you are firm on 2 yr window.

Since money is clearly not a problem, stick it in hysa and starts looking or dreaming about the house.

Thank you all. I'll go for HYSA.

HYSA is fine just keep in mind that the Fed will start lowering rate in September. And banks are very quick to lower those yields as the Fed cut rates. And this administration will push for policies that discourage savings and favour investments.

This pp brings u a good point re rate. Why not go with treasury bill or CD?

I would do penalty free CD in Marcus account by Goldman Sachs. I think it is 4.10%

I would do a MMMF or a CD. Both are about the same rate (4.1-4.2). MM Mutual fund is slightly more liquid.

Oh PP. I put same amount from sale into investments in 2017 and it lost $15k. Don’t put it in the market.
