| This year we are heading back from Bethany on Labor Day. We haven’t made the trek on a holiday/holiday weekend before. What’s the best time to leave to avoid traffic that isn’t insanely early? Would waiting until 6:00 pm let some of the traffic clear? Traveling with a toddler and infant. |
| The early morning or day before. |
| Leaving after dinner has always worked for us, under 3 hours to Arlington |
| Saturday. |
This is also what I do. |
| We left at about 2 or 3 pm and it was fine. |
| Sunday |
After 7pm, 8 or 9 best. |
| Traveling from Bethany to DC with a toddler and infant on Labor Day sounds hellish lol |
|
You have a toddler and infant so youre not tethered to school .
Just stay an extra day. |
| Agree with leaving after dinner. We left late morning on Memorial Day, and it was a zoo. Since then, we have started leaving after 6:30, including last weekend, and it took us 2 hours from St. Michael's to Arlington. |
| We leave dc Friday night around 6:30/7. We go back late Sunday night or I thinking of taking Tuesday off of work. Monday is a nightmare! |
| Sunday evening. It’s a holiday weekend so you’re not going to have a lot of company on the road. |
| I would wait and leave Tuesday morning. Even if you have to work, I'd just leave early, right at daybreak. |
| Thanks, all! OP here. We have to leave on Monday for a few specific reasons. We are thinking of leaving after dinner, as a few posters have recommended. Appreciate the input. |
