Best time to leave Bethany Beach on Labor Day?

Anonymous
This year we are heading back from Bethany on Labor Day. We haven’t made the trek on a holiday/holiday weekend before. What’s the best time to leave to avoid traffic that isn’t insanely early? Would waiting until 6:00 pm let some of the traffic clear? Traveling with a toddler and infant.

The early morning or day before.

Leaving after dinner has always worked for us, under 3 hours to Arlington

Traveling from Bethany to DC with a toddler and infant on Labor Day sounds hellish lol

You have a toddler and infant so youre not tethered to school .

Just stay an extra day.

Agree with leaving after dinner. We left late morning on Memorial Day, and it was a zoo. Since then, we have started leaving after 6:30, including last weekend, and it took us 2 hours from St. Michael's to Arlington.

We leave dc Friday night around 6:30/7. We go back late Sunday night or I thinking of taking Tuesday off of work. Monday is a nightmare!

Sunday evening. It’s a holiday weekend so you’re not going to have a lot of company on the road.

I would wait and leave Tuesday morning. Even if you have to work, I'd just leave early, right at daybreak.

Thanks, all! OP here. We have to leave on Monday for a few specific reasons. We are thinking of leaving after dinner, as a few posters have recommended. Appreciate the input.
