DCPS cell phone policy at Jackson-Reed?

Anonymous
Could anyone explain how the new DCPS cell phone policy will work at Jackson-Reed for students who have off-campus privileges during lunch and asynchronous periods not at the beginning or end of the day? If they are away from the building, will their phones be available to them? Appreciate any insight. Thank you.

This would be a great question to call the school and ask.

My friend who works at J-R says they are going to get Yonder pouches for phones. My child is at Deal and has been using Yonder pouches for two years. There are magnets at certain exits that the kids use when they leave to open their Yonder pouches. I imagine students will be able to unlock their pouches before leaving, then relock them upon return.

Yes, this is how they’ve described the policy in school communications: https://jacksonreedhs.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Jackson-Reed-Cell-Phone-Policy-Implementation-Plan_8.10.25.pdf
