We spent one week in Acadia with two kids (2 yo and 4 yo) and grandparents. We had a fantastic time! Everyone’s first time in Maine.
4 yo had fun hiking and the 2 yo loved looking at all the water. We drove to save $$ so it was a pretty affordable vacation, all in about $3,500. |
We spent two weeks in the national parks of Colorado and Utah. Highlights were Mesa Verde and Antelope Canyon. |
We did 4 nights in Iceland with one 15 year, and 3 nights in Bermuda - 2 adults only. Loved both. |
We took our teens to London and Paris. We all preferred London. Paris was just okay. I'm not sure what we did wrong. We also took a Caribbean Cruise with extended family for my inlaws' anniversary and it was a lot of fun.
I am very interested in seeing Maine (never been) but need to do a lot more research to make sure my teens won't be bored and bicker. |
Our big trip this year (France) was over Spring Break, so summer was pretty low-key. We went to Ocean City MD early in the summer and I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it! I hadn’t been there in ages, and it was better than I remembered. I also found it more enjoyable than Virginia Beach, where we’ve gone the past few years. In VA beach the smell of pot is EVERYWHERE — only smelled it a couple of times in passing while in OCMD. We went during one of the hottest weeks of the summer, and the ocean water felt amazing. I’ve never spent as much time in the water! |
How was the weather? |
Traveled to Crete this summer with teen aged kids, divided our time between south east and north west parts of the island. Stayed close to the beach, and did site-seeing / dinners in Heraklion, Rethymno, and Chania; snorkeling trips, olives farm; ….
Didn’t go to any of the “most famous beaches” cause reviews mentioned how crowded they are, and spent time at smaller beaches, and kids loved the beach that was walking distance to where we stayed. |
Colorado was beautiful -- sunny and high 70s, low 80s. Arizona was much, much hotter. When we were in monument valley, we started our hike at sunrise and then stayed inside for the mid day heat. |
Mistyped. We were in Colorado and Arizona. Utah was a previous year. |
Tell me more about what you didn’t like about Paris. We also loved London but haven’t done combined London and Paris trip I was considering for December. |
Tucks and Caicos in late May and it was paradise. Way more $$ than we expected for meals and taxis though. |
College tour and sports recruiting summer! Boston, Pennsylvania, and the NESCACs. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Those remote campuses are in and around countryside that's so beautiful in the summer. |
Paris with teens. Lots of fun. I think the key was that we did different tours with local guides so we got to learn history, etc while enjoying sights. They loved the walking chocolate tour and Montmartre tour the best. Also key with teens-they still need down time even though they aren’t little anymore. So we did most things in the morning and evening with afternoon breaks. |
We were in Paris for part of our trip also. God I love that city, seeing people just enjoying being out and about, made me feel great. Seeing so many people lining the banks of the Seine on a Friday night enjoying sunset (even dancing at one spot) as we did our (yes touristy) boat ride was very life affirming. |
