Is the Fed quietly accepting 3% as the new 2% inflation target? Will 4% be the new 3% in say 15 years?

They reaffirmed commitment to 2% but all bets are off after Powell. We are eased for major inflation and I, who a UC but losing my grip out, am considering leaving the country.

Biden's inflation screwed us for a very long time.

Ah yes Joe Biden who caused worldwide inflation that actually hit the US less than anywhere else in the developed world.

Ah yes, Joe Biden who dumped trillions into the economy, passed the "Inflation Reduction Act" that did nothing to reduce inflation, and did nothing to prepare the economy to reopen.

"less than anywhere else" is not a good standard.

Are you nuts this is a bipartisan issue with Trump 1 bearing as much or more responsibility; there were multiple trillions dumped into the economy multiplying the money supply all at once before he took office, and tariffs now are pro-inflationary unless you actually believe for-profit companies will eat the nearly 1% jump in the wholesale price index that just came out (and if you do, I have a bridge to sell you, and if they do, it’s going to stifle growth, can’t have it both ways).
Now he wants an interest rate cut before inflation is even under control? Hold on to your hat.

^before Biden took office (and before Biden was even elected actually)

I don't think we will ever see 2% again. They are about to lower rates. We are not headed toward 2%? Are we?

I'm 100% serious when I say we have entered a period of: "What do you want the inflation rate to be?"

2%? 3% Doesn't matter. Rates will be lowered.

Bank of England has been doing cut after cut even as it faces stagflation.

I was about to purchase I bonds but guess I will hold off if the inflation rate is going to be conjured out of thin air.
