6th grade pre algebra

Anonymous
My almost 6th grader was placed into pre-algebra. What level is this? Last year we were told the levels were Math 6, AMP 6+ or Math 7. What does pre algebra mean?? Thx

Prealgebra is the replacement for AIM. It combines math 7 and 8 standards. Did your child do well in math 5/6 last year?

Thanks! She did pretty well I’m just confused on where pre algebra falls. What are the other levels?

It's the highest one if it is replacing AIM. It is for kids who completed compacted math.

Are you aware of the reason for the change?

Someone else may know more, but aren’t they trying to fix the gaps that existed in the material when they were having them go from 5/6 to amp 7+ to algebra?
