What fairfax area private schools offer algebra honors in 7th grade? What does their process look like?
Most do I think. DC took algebra in 7th at Congressional. The teacher sent an email at the end of the year (6th) and said that based on performance, they recommended DC for the highest algebra track (it’s been a few years, I forget if they use the term honors, but they typically have three differentiation levels and DC was in the highest one), and did we approve that. We said yes. That was it. DC stayed in that track for geometry in 8th.
Out Catholic school had pre and Algebra in 7th depending upon child.
Our religious K-12 offers it.
Thanks for the responses. Are there a lot of hoops at private as with FCPS? Like extra testing and all?
At our school it's performance based. There are no hoops, but DC won't get bumped up just because parents want it. Test scores and class work both have to indicate mastery and readiness. |
