My kid is using my computer for this weekend's test at McLean HS.
Will the kids be given instructions on how to connect to the McLean HS wi-fi if they don't go there and already have the connection saved on their computer? Also, I am 99% sure I have disabled the screen saver, so he doesn't have to remember my password to get back into it. He will take the computer fully charged when he goes to the test. Also, complicated story but I need to have a family member pick him up when the test is done. Should they arrive at 10:30 a.m. for the 8 am test? Any other tech things I am overlooking? |
| Has he tried taking a practice blue book test on your computer? I would 100% do that. |
| I would make sure he knows your password, just in case. |

NP - following the thread on the pick up time question. Also, does the test start pretty close to 8 or is there a chunk of time spent on instructions, etc?
|
Often the test will start closer to 8:30. There is also a 10 min break in the middle. |
| I wait to pick him up until he calls. Sometimes it runs late |
Yeah he has done half a dozen over the summer. Very familiar with it. |
There is a secure place to store their phones? They can’t bring them in the testing room right? |
I think they had them in their backpacks on the floor at my kid’s school. |
| I would have kid bring charging cord just in case. Sometimes the test starts closer to 9. |
| Dumb question I guess but how do they make sure you're not sneaking looking up info on the internet? |
I believe the test is given on a lockdown browser, much like tests in school (at least for my kid) are. You can't navigate away from the SAT test browser. |
This. For phones, they *should* be okay with it powered off and put away in a backpack. But it does have to be a full powered off shutdown. |
What would prevent running the software in a virtual machine? |
