Can a player play for both ECNL and MLS Next?

Rumor has it that a player was dropped by DC United and now playing for both an ECNL and MLS Next team. Is that allowed?

Only if he is designated as future player.

He should add EDP and claim a hat trick of badges

4 trainings a week plus most times 2 games on the weekend for MLS Next

How does someone add ecnl to that?

well it's expensive if they're not funding even the half they used to

Yes it’s allowed. Why do you care?

No. It is a rule that MLS/GA clubs cannot do ECNL. It's part of their exclusive partnership. That's why so many clubs are jumping ship from ECNL so they can get MLSN/GA. How that is enforced at the player level or how someone would be caught, I have no idea.

Plenty of girls playing both GA and ECNL. Not in this are but mostly on west coast and Midwest. Some even getting named for talent IDs for both leagues…
