| I ask because I know the buses are usually delayed the first couple of weeks. It would be easier to just drop my kid off but let them come home on the bus. Or is it better to just use the app to track the bus? This is the first year dc is riding the bus to and from school. |
| Yes. This is a rediculous question. How long have you been raising these kids if this is an in uncertainty for you? |
Learn to spell 'ridiculous' and I'll take you a bit more seriously. My child has never ridden the bus. Sorry I can't intuit if the school is ok with changes of plan without being notified when they are very particular about knowing how children are coming and going. |
Agree, it is not a ridiculous question. Answer: yes, it is okay. Be sure your child knows what bus to ride home. Very normal to do this. Although, once you've tried Kiss and Ride, you may reconsider. |
| Drop off fine, pick up you have to let the school know. |
| I am laughing at this because as delayed and chaotic as you think the bus will be, Kiss and Ride will be 10 times worse, maybe 20 times worse. Better to let your kid just ride the bus. |
|
It's fine. Just make sure your child knows their bus number and is clear on the plan to get home.
We park nearby and walk the first 2 weeks. |

I think the bus is so so so much easier, even when it’s delayed. The app is amazing, but doesn’t always work the first few days of school.
I hate kiss and ride with the fire of 1000 suns, but some people don’t mind. The school doesn’t care how your child gets to school, only how they go home. I do think if you start with kiss and ride your kid might want you to do that all year… |
| The first week of school you should make sure your child is on the bus so the driver and transportation office have a good idea of how many kids are riding and how crowded the bus is and adjust accordingly. |
YES this. |
| Ooooh, you dummies who drive your kids to school for the first week and then put them on the bus a week later are the reason the busses are so crowded!!!! |
Not doing this... |
| Out am bus is always on time, while the pm school bus is always delayed, the 1st week of school. Like others say the kiss n ride will be horrible and form a very long line especially for pick up. The school won’t mark kids late if am bus delays. At our Fcps es school bus patrols will take kindergarteners ( bus riders) to their classroom in am, then pick them up from their classroom to line up for pm bus, maybe the first week or 2. You notify teacher in the morning only for pick up your own, otherwise kids have to go with bus group line after dismissal. |
Carson's kiss and rise was literally empty today. In the past it would back up nearly a half mile Hoping the bus isn't out of service again this week. |
