Would you accept a free capsule wardrobe with a big catch?

Anonymous
I complained quite a bit about clothing to my SIL. She has a friend who is a stylist. The friend offered to give me a capsule wardrobe for free, but there’s a catch. Actually two:

1) the wardrobe is black and white. Some pieces would be all one color. Others would be both.

2) I’d need to wear only the capsule for three months and post positively on social media about my experience, tagging the stylist.

My friends and I are split over this.

Would you do it?

The hassle of wearing all white all day, and cleaning all white clothes...ugh

Do you get a chance to look at the clothes before you decide?

I could not do it sight unseen, but if I saw the clothes and liked them, why not? Unless you don’t like the clothes or they want an over the top amount of posting.

No.

I am extremely picky about my clothes: they need to be mostly cotton, have exactly the right cut and style, and the right sort of patterns, only in colors I like (I hate black and white).

You could not pay me to wear clothes that I don't like!

She had me take a survey and showed me a few pieces that generally match my style. She said the others would not be far off.

The all white pieces would be a work top, a dress top, and a sweater. I think those would be easy to keep clean. No white bottoms.

She asked for at least one post a day.

This black and white thing is a gimmick she does. She did it last spring with someone else. I looked at a few and, considering that woman’s style was different, it didn’t include anything outrageous.

I just wonder if I’ll look weird. I’ll also need to repeat every week.

No, and I’m not picky about my clothes. But wearing only white and black for 4 months and being forced to post a good review is too much for me!

So she gets a discount on the clothes or receives them for free? Otherwise I can't imagine how she makes this work.

Sounds like a lot of hassle. I wouldn't do it. And white and black look very harsh on most human skin tones.

Sounds gimmicky and strange. I tend to wear a ton of b&w but wouldn’t do this going into fall. I actually can’t think of a season where 3 months of b&w would look ok

YES! Are you kidding? 3 months is nothing, and you can easily accessorize a B&W wardrobe to add color during the 3-month "contract" period, and then swap in a few more colorful pieces once time's up.

The first wouldn't bother me at all. I could add some accessories to add a pop of color.

The second, no way in hell. I have nothing against influences. If anything, I admire how much work goes into it (except mom/family ones, can't stand them). But I don't have that energy, patience, confidence, photogenic skills, or social media skills to make it worth her time and free clothes.

No, I’m a private person and don’t post anything on social media. I definitely wouldn’t agree to being someone’s advertisement or “content”.

No. Weird and dumb.

I wouldn't do it. To be forced to give someone else's opinion is not what I am about.

You can create this yourself. I have two friends who only wear navy blue, black, grey and white. Another friend only wears jewel tones.

Just pick the few colors you want, and create it and start wearing it to see how you feel.
