| I’ve heard conflicting info from friends with kids on MLS Next 2 teams - some have been told MLS 2 teams need to qualify for Fest, while others have heard the opposite and started planning travel. Does anyone have reliable info on whether MLS Next 2 teams will need to qualify for Fest (and if so, what the qualifying criteria are)? Couldn’t find anything on the website. |
How in the Wide World of Sports can MLS Next 2 teams be at a MLS Next tournament that requires qualification through MLS Next Flex league points games? |
| I had heard the MLSN 2 teams had to qualify. Otherwise the event is too large/long and college coaches and scouts won’t stay to see them. |
| MLS next 2 should not be in MLS Next Fest. They should have their own second tier events. |
| The worst mistake was forming MLS Next 2. It's a joke and we all know it. |
I agree. I assume they are not in MLSNext fest. MLSNext 2 is a money grab like ECNL-R. |
ECNL does that. I suspect the same for MLSNext. |
| FLEX should not be confused w/FEST. Both are not the same. MLS Teams have to qualify thru league points games to play in FLEX. |
| NP here with son starting MLS Next 1 - what is FLEX? |
Ha! Do you think I want to fly to Arizona to play meaningless matches? We are in the league to AVOID travel and keep the commitment lower. Super displeased about both the travel and missing school for... what exactly. |

We have trips to az in November for id event and then December for mls fest. Have not heard about a qualifier.
Our MLSN academy team is very strong. |
Fun with friends. |
Qualification is for EOY playoffs and can apparently be done by winning your MLSN 2 division or via the regional MLSN 2 events (there are 8 of those, no clue how many in each age group qualify but probably no more than 1-2). No qualification required to participate in Fest, so if your club has said your MLSN 2 team is going, plan on it. Older age groups probably 1st weekend, games start Dec 4th and end on the 7th with one day off in b/tw, so you fly in on Dec 3rd and out on Dec 8th. This 100%. MLS Fest was already a large event that any MLSN team can go to. There is just no way logistically to open it up to all the new MLSN2 teams that want to come and have enough fields, refs, etc. |
