| My DH can't sleep in a double bed with me (we have a king at home). Me sleeping with DD (only child) is not an option because she moves around so much . We usually try to book hotels with a king bed and a pull out sofa but not always available. We are at the beach now, booked a room with 2 doubles and DH hasn't slept well at all. Wondering if anybody takes foldable cots to hotels for a kid. Do they fit and do the kids sleep well? Of so any specific cot recommendations for an elementary age child? |
| No solutions, just empathy. I also have a man-baby for a husband and a child who is following in his footsteps and I too wind up trying to figure out how to make them both happy because neither is capable of just figuring out how to make do. |
| Certainly doesn't sound like a vacation to me. |
| Some hotels will provide roll away beds, sometimes for a small fee. |
I have a kid who can’t sleep with other people. We bring camping pad and put him on the floor. |
+1 Do this. Also, I always pick a place with 2 queens not 2 doubles. DH and I also have a king at home and struggle in hotels but we can make a queen work. A double does really suck for 2 adults. |
Thanks! So you are talking about a foam mat you put directly on the floor? |
Don't some hotels say "two queen beds" but they are actually full/double beds? |
|
Yes, we carry an air mattress with bedding in an XL LL Bean rolling duffel bag OR the twin Milliard foam trifold mat in the Milliard travel bag.
We typically leave it in the car unless it’s absolutely necessary. Some hotels have two queens (instead of full beds) plus a sofa, and then we don’t need it. |
| We do an air mattress as well. |
+1 Most hotels offer a rollaway. I would call and ask the front desk. |
