DCPS high school language placement

Hi everyone, I'm hoping someone can explain to me how World Language placement works at Walls, Banneker, and any other DCPS high school. I see the Jackson-Reed website here https://jacksonreedhs.org/academics/departments/world-language/, but I'm not very clear on when the testing occurs and if there's a specific test.

For context, DD is about to start 8th grade at a charter without a lot of language offerings, and we don't know what high school she'll be going to-- depends on the lottery. She's hoping to place into the second year of a language in 9th grade, but she doesn't take the language at school, so I'm looking to determine what she needs to do to enhance her chances of doing that.
