Are you planning to keep the Chase Safire Reserves at the higher annual fee?

I'm trying to decide whether to keep or not. I don't like change and dealing with administrative stuff, but the fee not trivial.

I'd like to hear from people that have decided to keep it and why. TIA!

If I stay it is because I'm lazy.

No. We have AMEX Centurion and JP Morgan Reserve though.

I actually got it when they raised the fee. 200k chase points will go a long way. I’ll dump it in a year.

I need to do a bunch of math to see. We use the lounges and have about 600k UR points built up, so if I decide not to keep it I'm probably going to downgrade to the CSP.

But I think for sure I'm going to cancel our VentureX - if we're paying $1k for one card I don't want any other expensive cards hanging around. I don't want to have to learn the AmEx points game (transfer partners, etc) since I'm pretty familiar with Chase/Hyatt at this point.

I am a points player with a ton of premium cards. This fall, as the fees start coming due, I will begin canceling them. The game is becoming burdensome.

Did you receive a special offer? I just see a 100k points offer.

I'm keeping it for now. We like the lounges and will use the benefits in excess of the annual fee. Maybe more depending on The Edit and opentable.

But I agree it starts to feel burdensome.

Some of the discounts have also been good for places we go anyway, like Lulu and Sephora and Marriott, although I see the same mostly on my Wells Fargo card.

Well keep it. We use the travel credit and probably get enough value out of points over time to break even. Otherwise, I haven't needed it, but I like the purchase protection.

Same. Downgraded to Sapphire Preferred. Still have ability to transfer to travel partners, and good travel insurance coverage. Excellent card for $95/year.

200k not a good offer for 30k spend. Can get 100k from Ink Preferred for 8k spend.

Chase has priced themselves out of the market even in comparison to their own midlevel cards. But I guess they won't stop until lots of people actually cancel. I am sure they have strong data saying they won't.

We are planning on attending an event this upcoming year so we will keep it for the perks for a year and see how it goes.

The JP Morgan card has better benefits.
