Local Masons and Shriners (as in the fraternal organization) and AAs

Anonymous
Strictly a random observation not intended to offer judgment in any way, but I have noticed since moving to the DC area 10 years ago that just about the only cars I see around with Masonic emblems are driven by middle aged African Americans. Are most Masons in the region AA? I grew up on the west coast in a very white community and many in my family were Masons; I was even in Job's Daughters for several years (the Masonic group for young women). For me Mason=really old rich people. I don't care either way, just curious.

The black wing of the masons is called "Prince Hall" masons and no, the majority of masons in this area are white, not black. Most are not old white men, either. Very middle class.

I grew up in the South. They were mostly white, and weren't even middle class, mostly working class.
