When will SEC start internal hiring again?

The Chair said there would be opportunities for newer/younger staff with all the DOGE retirements in the beginning. When do you think they'll start opening new jobs internally?
Anonymous
What he meant was that the existing people will have the opportunity to take on the work of everyone that left.

I’m hearing rumors of another Vera/VSIP I don’t think there’s going be any hiring going on. Maybe just some details in the interim.

i'm just waiting for a reorg and for my contractors to get cut.

Are the rumors reliable about another voluntary retirement round

They have already hired in a couple of areas. I would think we are a few months out from hiring but they will do so then. I also think there will be another round of voluntary retirements but this round will be focused on certain divisions.

Doubtful until after FYE imo. And frankly I think in the cases of unfilled branch chief or 17 roles they may just look at consolidating management positions, meaning some of the open roles will cease to exist.

and staff positions?

The jobs aren’t coming back. They are going to fulfill them with contractors as needed.

Not sure about the contractor part. I've never seen a contractor who was an attorney, which is the majority of the agency. For support and tech roles, sure. They've also cut or switched out a lot of contractors and OIT is a freaking mess as a result.

There are some contract attorneys. For example, some of the people that triage TCRs are contractor attorneys.

They will consolidate SES and 17 mgmt positions. They want staff-manager ratio to be at least 7:1. And they don’t want any manager to only have 1 or 2 direct reports. This is spelled out in project 2025.

Which divisions?

Being a manager nowadays sounds like tons of fun. You get to process RA and religious TW requests all day.

And the big sweetener: if you’re promoted, you’re on probation for a year, with all the stability that brings.

Its about 0 work. They get a check box yes or no and they have a generic copy/paste sentence about the job being done via TW and that is the extent of their input, HR handles the entire thing.
