| Currently at HHS and recently notified that a few of us will be detailed to another division. No one seems to know what's going on but worried that we're being moved for a future RIF. Can I refuse this forced detail? Is this their way to get around reorg rules? Trying not to freak out....is this happening to anyone else? |
Yep you’re getting RIF’d. |

| Some FEMA employees are being forced to work for ICE. I’m a laid off FEMA contractor. I would quit if that had happened to me. |
| There are forced details happening at DOJ but not for the purpose of preparing for a RIF. Rather they did not anticipate the huge loss of staff and are moving people to understaffed areas to fulfill administration priorities. |
| FDA has detailed 100s of people from the product centers to the Office of Operations. |
At my agency, the details aren't forced- you can decline, eventually they find someone. But it's a way to get around the hiring freeze and fill critical positions that have become vacant for one reason or another. We also have a lot of people having to step into temporary acting managerial roles for no extra pay or benefit for the same reason. |
