Cathedral Ave Entrance to RCP

I have a question that I should know the answer to but I don't. Is it possible to take Cathedral Avenue to Rock Creek Parkway and go through the tunnel to the zoo parking lots/MtPleasant in the evening or is it blocked?

I am picking up my kid from the Calleva bus at Maret and would like to just take Cathedral all the way to RCP and go through the tunnel to MtP. It feels like one should be able to do this but it feels like it might be blocked in the evening.

I'm trying to avoid Connecticut Ave to get to MtP.

Cathedral is one way inbound during evening rush. To avoid Connecticut, just go down to Calvert on 29th from Cathedral. Then go left and across to Adams Morgan on Calvert. You can turn left at the signaled intersection with Lanier Place, left on Harvard and go past the back Zoo entrance and up to Mt Pleasant that way.
