My oldest brought home fundraising info for his high school sport. One of the many required fundraising efforts is to bring in 10 emails for ETeams. I’m not familiar with this platform. Any insight on how it works or experience using it?
I visited their website and it sounds like they will solicit donations from the contact information you submit. Is that it? Grandparents and a few other family members might be willing to contribute, but I’d like to give them a heads up first. I also don’t want them spammed and would need to come up with 5 other emails to fulfill the requirements. |

I would hate that so much. We have generous relatives, but they give enough in terms of 529 contributions and gift cards for birthdays and Christmas, that I refuse to sign them up to be solicited. Also, we have a tacit understanding that we don’t ask each other for sports fundraising. My kids are still in school, but they have 12 cousins who are either in college or have graduated, and we have never received a request from their parents.
If I were in your shoes, I would make throwaway email accounts and submit them in addition to your relatives’ or as a substitute. |
PP. If you are referring to eTeamSponsor, then yes, you are right. It’s basically a gofundme except they directly solicit from the emails provided. |
They said it was “eteams” but sounds like that. My sister and I are the only ones with kids and we’ve had the same understanding about not asking each other for fundraising efforts. I’ll probably be making up some email addresses. |
Better yet, add the eTeamSponsor execs to see how they like it. Hopefully they will step up to support their amazing product. I refuse to have our family participate in these fundraisers, the schools will not be contacting our family and friends for money.
I saw the thread title and thought this was about ESports. I sometimes see that kids from our school are doing video games and the school somehow lumps it into sports. I've got nothing against video games but I don't see how they belong in schools. |
I would do this if I could not have it associated to my kid! He’s new to the team and we don’t want to make any waves to start out. |
| I made throwaway emails for these fundraisers. I did not want grandparents or any relatives getting spammed or even buying their overpriced discount cards or cookie sales. I bought a discount card once and they weren’t even that useful. I don’t think we used any. The Girl Scout cookie sales spammed the worst. |

Donations also do not appear to tax deductible.
