Has anyone applied yet and successfully gotten one? I’m considering this to have it in writing I can TW on the eve of certain Jewish holidays and I may request it for Fridays too but don’t want to draw attention to myself so might just hold off on the Friday request but we did use to be more observant of Shabbat during TW days and I really liked being home to have time to prepare but again, am worried how this will be perceived by my coworkers so holding off-but I want the rest in writing. So do I just let my supervisor know my plan to file one and just go from there?

So you will work Sunday-Thursday as opposed to Monday-Friday? Does your job support that type of schedule?

Shabbat starts at sundown on Fridays. If you commute you don't get home in time.

No-to have it in writing that I can TW on the eve of certain holidays since most Jewish holidays start the evening before and this way I wouldn’t have to use leave if I TW that day. If I were to request TW on Fridays it would be to be home to get to services in time. That’s still working M-F.

You just file it with your supervisor. It should be approved since what you are requesting is the exact example given in the OPM memo about approved religious telework.

Do your coworkers already know you're jewish? Does your supervisor? If not, do you work in a place where you'd feel safe if that got out? That's what I'd consider before requesting that.

You don't have to disclose your religion to your coworkers. They can wonder why you get to telework all they want but you aren't obligated to tell anyone.

Well they will figure it out.

Even in the summer?

Yes, get it in writing, given that the White House sets the tone on cracking down on antisemitism (even if what it cracks down on is everything else, but never mind). And then, use only as you see fit. You don't need to talk about it, or use it at the height of summer.
