No discount for new releases on Amazon?

Has anyone else noticed that the new releases on Amazon are no longer deeply discounted? I suppose it's good news for independent bookstores as I am now purchasing them locally. Just wondering if anyone else has noticed/has a theory on why.

Yes—it’s because Amazon wants us to buy digital formats

What true book lover buys books denim Amazon? Come on, love. They are the worst thing to happen to books ever.

If you can’t fathom shopping small, B&N does 25% off preorders every 4 months and usually has 10% off bestsellers.

No sure why autocorrect went with denim there. Amazon sucks for books. Don’t buy books from them.

It’s not that I can’t fathom shopping small, I cannot fathom paying more money for the same product. If that takes me out of the category of “true book lover,” oh well.
