Paying back negative leave balances

| Any Feds leave the workforce with a negative leave balance? Agencies sometimes let you advance leave. I’m wondering if you had to pay it back? And did you just pay back your hourly rate times the number of hours advanced or did you owe for benefits too? |

| How could you owe for benefits? I think the recent DRP said they would try to waive any payments due. |

| You can’t just take paid leave you didn’t earn and leave the agency with the debt, so that is due. You don’t have to pay the benefits back … I’m not even sure how that would work. |

| You are a debtor to the government, and they will collect. They can even grab your tax refund. |
