Was the case of the Drew teacher who was arrested for dealing drugs due to thr mcps failure to run adequate background checks ?

The issue is that they are background checked, same as county workers, upon hire but not regularly. It need to be done every year or to but is expensive.

I haven't seen any reporting that she had a previous criminal record, and she was placed on leave after her arrest. Some things aren't going to be caught by a background check.

Sarah Magid obviously did not get continuous background checks, even if an initial one was done upon her hiring, so I think it's a strong possibility that her ability to do drug dealing at the school is linked to the gap in background checks and CPS checks that the OIG has brought to light.

Y’all are crazy!!! Of course she had a background check. Prior to her 2024 arrest she had never faced criminal charges. What do you expect MCPS do? Shake a magic 8 ball or get tarot cards read to predict the likelihood of an employee committing a crime??? Even if MCPS ran hourly background checks on her, it would have been clear up until her arrest. Even then, they would need to put her on administrative leave until a conviction.

Most people here don't understand how anything actually works. Police officers, politicians, doctors, everyone who gets screened, can commit a crime after being screened.
