Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS)
| Was the case of the Drew teacher who was arrested for dealing drugs due to thr mcps failure to run adequate background checks ? |
|
Any mention of it here?
https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/1224061.page Did it come up in the OIG report see yesterday's threads on here. |
People said hire was nepotism her father was some Magid in mcps. Police news release from arrest https://www2.montgomerycountymd.gov/mcgportalapps/Press_Detail.aspx?Item_ID=45713 |
| The issue is that they are background checked, same as county workers, upon hire but not regularly. It need to be done every year or to but is expensive. |
| I haven't seen any reporting that she had a previous criminal record, and she was placed on leave after her arrest. Some things aren't going to be caught by a background check. |
+100 Most people posting on DCUM are too dumb to understand this. |
| Sarah Magid obviously did not get continuous background checks, even if an initial one was done upon her hiring, so I think it's a strong possibility that her ability to do drug dealing at the school is linked to the gap in background checks and CPS checks that the OIG has brought to light. |
Y’all are crazy!!! Of course she had a background check. Prior to her 2024 arrest she had never faced criminal charges. What do you expect MCPS do? Shake a magic 8 ball or get tarot cards read to predict the likelihood of an employee committing a crime??? Even if MCPS ran hourly background checks on her, it would have been clear up until her arrest. Even then, they would need to put her on administrative leave until a conviction. |
She had a previous DUI. Her mother is a MCPS teacher. Her father is a high school basketball star. |
Most people here don't understand how anything actually works. Police officers, politicians, doctors, everyone who gets screened, can commit a crime after being screened. |
So? |
Exhibit #1 of those who are too dumb to understand the process. |
