Trump and Bolsonaro, oh the irony

Anonymous
Trump, who maybe sees his future in what’s happening to former Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro, is crossing many lines in getting involved with the arrest of Bolsonaro for attempted assassinations of his rivals and using military force to try and stay in power.

I don’t get how it’s American’s place to interfere with something like this, especially when we all know that Trump doesn’t know the facts. He knows nothing but calls it a witch hunt. He put a 50% tariff on Brazil but his bullying isn’t changing the Judges minds.

“ The Brazilian judge, Trump officials alleged, had committed human rights abuses by allegedly restricting the freedom of expression of his critics and ordering the arbitrary detentions of his opponents.” Absolutely shameless hypocrites

Bolsonaro has his own MAGA cult of know nothings but unlike the US Supreme Court this judge, Brazilian Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes, will not back down from a corrupt leader, Trump.

Bolsonaro is under house arrest and will be tried. “Justice is blind,” Moraes said in his decision. “But it is not a fool.”

Trump has been rapidly transforming us into a backward third-world state.

Brazil made the mistake of electing someone as old as Trump and Biden. They'll quickly learn how terrible of an idea 80 year presidents are if they haven't already.

This is one topic that can't gain traction on DCUM. Trump's interference in Brazilian politics right now is absolute insanity, and yet every time someone posts a thread about it, it goes nowhere.

The NY Times interviewed Lula last week and I really thought people here would bite at the chance to discuss someone who is openly defying Trump.

People don’t care about international politics unfortunately

Yes, please can we have no more dementia patients who are pedophiles and cheaters with Nazis and white nationalist friends and employees?

I do not think I am asking for much.

THIS! Having lived in developing countries, including several dictatorships, I couldn’t believe it when I saw that Brazil is doing more to hold a corrupt leader accountable than the so-called bastion of democracy, the United States of America.

Biden was just old and lost a few steps. Trump is just garbage. It’s weird how people keep mentioning them in the same breath. It’s like saying, “well, everyone has health issues” when one person has gas and the other has colon cancer.

Trump is terrified that one of his heroes will be held accountable.

We're a little busy with Trump and his cult blowing up the USA

No joke - but Brazil needs to dispose of Bolsonaro as soon as possible. Why have this leverage hanging over their heads? The guy was going to execute his rivals had his coup attempt been successful.

People mention them in the same breath because they are our two most recent presidents, they are our oldest presidents, they handed each other very easy election victories, they are two of our most unpopular presidents ever, and both are obviously not fit to serve in the most powerful position on the planet. Of course they aren't equals but they are more comparable to each other than any other American presidents.

Is this kind of interference in another country’s judicial process unprecedented?

Trump putting 50% tariffs on a whole country unless they release Bolsonaro. Charging the Brazilian Supreme Court Justice of a crime using the Magnitsky Act. They took his visa.

He’s obviously upset that Brazil has the balls to charge Bolsonaro with crimes, some of them exactly the crimes that Trump has committed regarding human rights violations.

This misuse of Trump’s power should be front page news. He’s prioritizing issues close to him, not the priorities of the US.
