Life is mostly boring.

Does anyone else feel this way?

I mean, yes, I work and find that fulfilling. I have interests and friends. I have TV shows and movies and podcasts and books that I look forward to. I plan and take vacations.

But the majority of life is just… boring.

I think that's pretty normal, but I don't personally feel that way.

You sound mildly depressed. Vacations and friends and intereste and a fulfilling job are usually enough.

What do you think might make your life more exciting?

I think you are depressed. Life is pretty awesome for me. It's relaxing with little bits of adventure mixed in.

it's relative. Maybe more boring because nowadays everyone can in a second find, see, get, look into, look up, do, go, be...

Life is a lot of administrative activity for sure.

I find parenting and making art fulfilling in a way that makes up for it though. Relationships in general can be satisfying, but none are as meaningful to me as parenting and I consider my relationship with my DC probably my life's greatest work. Also parenting is the rare activity that becomes less and less boring the longer you do it. The early years can be a slog even as they are more intensive, but as kids get older, parenting is less about doing everything for them and more about supporting them from the sidelines (while doing your own thing more of the time), making decisions, and being a sounding board. So less time filling out paperwork, arranging playdates, and making sure they brushed their teeth, more time having conversations with them, watching them explore their own interests and develop their own personalities. I've really loved that transition.

I don't need to be entertained all the time. I enjoy downtime. I wouldn't call something I enjoy boring.

I'm at this stage. I have been working a lot, wfh - so don't socialize during the day, don't have many friends because I've wfh since I moved here, haven't been able to travel much this past year, in menopause, don't like my job but pays decently, don't feel connected to my spouse, my kids are in college/about to go to college.

I think I need anti-depressants.

I appreciate the boring after going through tumultuous times.

Nothing a reverse-mortgage can’t fix. Spend, spend, spend the boredom away! You too can enjoy the non-boring drama of becoming unhoused.

It is definitely boring. But that's modern life complete with security and stability. Go to a 3rd world country and nope, life is not boring It's not even about danger lurking around the corner, it's just about figuring out how to live another week. Apex predators do not have a boring life Maybe ants have a more boring life as they work in colonies and have a measure of that stability and security. So you just have to accept it is what it is. Once upon a time, life was more physical labor but we spend upwards of 8+ hours a day sitting in front of an electronic device. Just about every damn day. How can this not be boring?!
