Cornell pulled their essay prompts

And is re-writing them as part of a settlement.

Everyone is.

Saw an admissions reader post on a FB group that UVA lack of supplements was due to a federal settlement/probe.

The prompts are usually broad enough so we can always write about race heritage and lived experience, no matter what the new prompts are.

Did colleges not post the new ones on 8/1?

Not all colleges have their applications ready in Common App. Cornell is one of them.

What were the essay prompts before they pulled them?

We all contribute to, and are influenced by, the communities that are meaningful to us. Share how you’ve been shaped by one of the communities you belong to.
Remember that this essay is about you and your lived experience.

Define community in the way that is most meaningful to you. Some examples of community you might choose from are: family, school, shared interest, virtual, local, global, cultural

Oh thank goodness. We certainly don't want to know anything about an applicant's attitude or relationship to various communities. I mean do they think a college campus is a community or something? Do they think that a college campus exists in a larger community or something ? Oh heck no . Thank goodness they got rid of that one.

If any consolation ... Penn and Wellesley still keep their community essays. I believe there are more schools keeping it than losting it.

Elon and Don make the Penn community proud 😉

1. "Please explain why you think Donald Trump is the best president ever."
2. "What do you think President Trump's biggest success was, and why."
3. "If you had the chance to support MAGA by working for President Trump, what would you do?"
4. "Explain a time when MAGA impacted your life. Write about how it positively changed your future."

Those types of essays are a waste of time, especially in this era of AI.

This just shows how ridiculous and disgusting the past essay prompts were, just in the opposite direction.

Oh yeah, because kids are incapable of thinking about their communities and their relationship to their communities. They better just let AI tell them about their all lives.
