To be clear, this is not a thread designed to trash a club. My kids played with BRYC for years, most of which was a good experience.
My kids tell me (heard from friends/former teammates) that they've reduced or eliminated a bunch of the NCSL/bridge teams? I think the concept was great, but did they finally realize it diluted their talent pipeline? Website (which looks like something from 1997, I'm fine with trashing that part, lol) seems to indicate there's only one team per age group now? Just curious. I do feel badly for kids who may have been cut after playing together for a while. |

They’ve always had a limit on the number of bridge teams permitted per age group, I believe it’s 2. There are less for some age groups simply because no coach applied for one. There are others where more than 2 requested it, and they had to say no and tell them to try out for an existing team. I still think it’s a great program that very few clubs allow in our area.
Agreed that the website is terrible but doesn’t really bother me! Other than that I haven’t heard of any effort to reduce the bridge teams, is there a specific age group you are thinking of? |
| Some of the bridge teams collapsed, and players were absorbed by the academy team or B team. |
