I'm trying to understand CSS Profile

1. Do you have to fill out CSS Profile to be considered for merit aid at schools that use CSS Profile? If it is school dependent, does UVA require you to do it for student merit (I know they are stingy)?

2. Does VT require CSS Profile?

3. How can you determine if a school REQUIRES CSS Profile?

We won't qualify for federal aid, but we will fill out the FAFSA, as we know it is required for merit at many schools, but not sure about CSS Profile.

All of those links are talking about need-based aid.

OP, to be really sure, contact the school’s financial aid office. Make it clear you are asking about eligibility and consideration for non-need-based merit aid.
