Danville City council member doused with gasoline and set on fire

Really tragic. He has been air lifted for treatment.
Attack is reported as being personal and not related to his position on city council.
Hope he recovers completely.

An incredibly disturbing incident in Virginia —

A 37 year old local councilman in Danville, Lee Vogler, was doused with 5 gallons of gasoline and set on fire.

The suspect has been arrested and identified as a 29 year old named “Shotsie Michael Buck Hayes,” who does not appear to have a criminal record in Virginia. The incident appears personal, not political, the two men having known each other. Shotsie’s wife filed for divorce 2 weeks ago.

Lee Vogler was airlifted to the hospital for treatment. His condition is currently unknown.

What makes you think that Shotsie is a political opponent of Vogler? Do you know Shotsie's political affiliation?

It seems more likely that Shotsie's wife left him for Vogler given that this appears to be a crime of passion.

The tweet says the suspect's wife filed for divorce 2 weeks ago. That could be relevant for a few different reasons, but an affair is one strong possibility.
