Looking to enroll my DS into an elementary , K-6, or K-12 private school that focuses on academic excellence, spiritual formation, character development, and sports.
Any quality recommendations in the DMV area? |
| If in northern Virginia, Trinity Christian School is a K-12 that matches your criteria. |
|
Dominion Christian, with some caveats about sports. They semi-regularly send D3 athletes to college, but it's a small school. The upside is that pretty much everyone athletic, and some non-, who wants to be on on a team can, and most do.
At the ES level, there's lots of outside time as well as after-school sports activities, including opportunities for matches against other ES teams. |
| Where are you located and how far would you be willing to drive? “DMV” is way too broad when we’re talking a reasonable commute to school. |

If you are further out in NOVA:
Providence Academy (Leesburg) Ad Fontes (Centreville) Honorable mention: Virginia Academy (Ashburn) - more watered down in my opinion on spiritual formation and academics. Great athletics facilities. |
Seconded. Strong athletics. |
|
Immanuel Christian School might be another option. It is in the Alexandria area. It is very evangelical, so might not be a fit for some families. Their curriculum is online in reasonable detail.
(And yes, they teach science the same way public schools do.) |
We have lots of friends there. It is rigorous, but doesn't offer quite as many athletic options as TCS. Not sure any other Fairfax County Christian privates do. Obviously the Catholics offer the most. |
+1 |
| Depending on where you live/work, there's a great option in Reston: Academy of Christian Education, Pre-k-8th. Very strong academics. Basic PE/fitness until 5th grade when seasonal sports open up, but still somewhat limited. |
| Fairfax Baptist Temple is another option. Not so sure about sports there though. |

Where do you live OP?
My kid has been at Forcey Christian school since 4th grade, now going into 8th. We’ve been happy. It’s a pre-k thru 8th in eastern moco/Silver Spring area. |
PE continues in MS once a week and MS also has well run sports teams. |
